Chennai to get rainstorms in the next 2 days

The city of Chennai and northern parts of TN would get rains in the next 48 hours. It is known that over the last few days Chennai city has been getting rains. The movement of storms from northwest would bring rains in Chennai.

As per a source from the regional meteorological department, the cyclonic circulation lies over south-west Bay of Bengal of north TN coast at 7.6km above mean sea level. Around 20th September, a low pressure is likely to develop over north-east Bay of Bengal and in the neighbouring area.

Nungambakkam in Chennai had a maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam had a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded in Nungambakkam was 27.7 degrees Celsius and in Meenambakkam was 26.6 degrees Celsius.  Districts like Tiruvallur, Vellore, Ranipet, Thirupatthur, Thiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Kallakurichi etc would receive light to moderate rains.

Chennai based weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John has tweeted that while monsoon picks up in Kerala and on the west coast again the next 2 days would be good for northern parts of TN. He mentioned about improved steering and convergence right over north TN, Vellore, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram , Chengalpet, Dharmapuri, Thirupatthur, Ranipet, Salem-Namakkal,  and Thiruvannalamai that would fall in the path of convergence..

There would be thunderstorms in the next 24 to 48 hours of time. The maximum temperature would be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature would be around 27 degrees Celsius. The officials have also highlighted the heavy rains in the Ghat regions on 20th and 21st September.
