Lots of job opportunities available for science students

Who said only engineering students have got many job opportunities?

Recently, at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, various job opportunities that are available for the science graduates in India and in the foreign countries were highlighted as a part of Current and Emerging Career Opportunities in the Sciences, The Hindu Education and Career Counselling webinar services.

Myriad streams available for higher education and the importance of research in selecting colleges and the course was brought out by the dean of Sri Ramachandra University, Mr.  S.P. Thyagarajan.

He then explained about how on the websites of various institutions different programmes are available and how to zero on a perfect university. Embassies or advisory bodies could provide important information about the foreign universities. The country level and world level ranks could also give details. It is revealed that NIRF rankings or NAAC scores would give information about the Indian universities.

Biostatistics has got a huge job opportunity and this was according to Mr. Thyagarajan. He explained about the documenting of pandemics, natural history of diseases, pattern of clinical symptoms etc that has to be trough properly processed data. Bio-statisticians could play a huge role in the research institutions, R and D labs etc.

Few decades back courses like botany and zoology did not have many job prospects but this is changing now. This was according to Mr. Sanjay Molur, ED, zoo outreach organisation. 

He then brought out the importance of environmental sciences courses that have many aspects related to ecology, environmental chemistry, biotechnology, data analysis, environmental geology, environmental engineering etc. Information collected is pollution, natural resources conservation and environmental impact assistance etc could be pursued as a career by the science students.

It is important to choose one`s interest while choosing a career and this was as per professor dean of SRMIST, Mr. John Thiruvadigal.
