The date 22nd of August is very special in the hearts of the Chennaites.

On 22nd August in the year 1639, Madras was founded and every year on 22nd August the Chennai city comes together to celebrate the founding day. Every year, there would be heritage walks, talks and many events but this time the celebrations would be in digital. It is revealed that from webinars to online exhibitions most celebrations have been moved online.

This time around, there would not be any event hosted by Madras Musings but others have taken this opportunity to reach out to a bigger audience.

The shift to the digital space especially Face Book has expanded the audiences from the typical elite audiences of Madras Month. This was as per Mr. Nivedita Louis, local historian. He added that more people have been watching his seminars now. Importance of civic responsibility was also brought out by him. Understanding the heritage is very important.

As per an architect and urban planner, it was clear that the internet is a place for the like- minded people to come together. Accessibility across time zones is one big advantage of ten line space and this was according to Mr. Ramaswamy, co-founder of Chennai Photo Walk.
