It has been pointed out by data from the Chennai Corporation that in the erstwhile hotspots like Royapuram and Tondiarpet in north Chennai the doubling time of Coronavirus cases is more than double than that of the entire Chennai city.

On 3rd of August 2020, the doubling time or the time that is needed for the Coronavirus cases to double in the entire Chennai city was 63 days. For Royapuram, doubling time was 140 days and for Tondiarpet it was 128 days. Other hot spots such as Teynampet and Thiru Vi- Ka- Nagar had doubling time that was 1.5 times than that of the entire Chennai city. In the Manali zone, the slowest increase in the number of Coronavirus cases was recorded.

It must be remembered that on 18th of July 2020 entire Chennai had a doubling time of 47 days and for the zones like Tondiarpet, Royapuram and Thiru Vi- Ka- Nagar the doubling time was 90 days. This was according to Mr. G. Prakash, Chennai Corporation commissioner.

As per some officials it is clear that the increase in the doubling time for about 2 weeks indicated the decrease in the Coronavirus spread. The doubling time in the Ambattur zone is 36 days.

It must be noted that the Ambattur zone has got the second highest number of active Corona cases at 1334. The data analysis has confirmed that Ambattur zone is the only zone to record an increase in the number of active cases in the last 14 days.

Teynampet zone has recorded the highest number of deaths in the last 2 weeks of time and that was 168. This was confirmed by the statistical analysis data. In the last fortnight in Chennai city, Teynampet along with Anna Nagar and Kodambakkam has accounted for 40% of all deaths in Chennai.
