Lowest active Coronavirus cases at oldest hotspots like Royapuram and Tondiarpet zones

In the past, Coronavirus hotspots in Chennai were Royapuram zone and Tondiarpet zone but now they have got the lowest active Coronavirus cases. This has grabbed the attention of many.

Information gathered is that the Tondiarpet zone has now got 602 active cases and the Royapuram zone has 806 active cases. This is the lowest percentage of active cases now. The data from the Chennai Corporation has revealed that out of the total positive cases reported in the Tondiarpet and Royapuram zones just 6% and 7 % of the patients are under treatment now.

Out of 15 zones belonging to GCC, Royapuram zone has 10,041 persons who have recovered from Coronavirus infection. This is now the highest number of persons recovered from a particular zone.

As many as 8600 persons have recovered from the infection from the Tondiarpet zone. It is important to note that Manali zone has recorded single digit active case percentage and this zone has just 8% active cases. Tondiarpet and Royapuram zones have recorded 242 and 255 deaths due to Covid-19 infection respectively is well known. Till now, in Chennai city as many as2076 persons have passed away. This is 2.13pecent of the mortality rate. Now, the number of cases is coming down in GCC but the corporation is still cautious.

Mr. G. Prakash, Chennai Corporation commissioner later spoke about how the strategy has been working out well to control the spread of the Coronavirus infection in Chennai city.

He explained about how the stability has been reached and how it would be sustained for a month of time. For the next 4 to 5 months, the public must wear facemasks and maintain social distancing compulsorily in the fight against Coronavirus infection. For this, the GCC has been making many appeals to the public. Fact is there are 12,375 persons in Chennai undergoing treatment for Coronavirus infection.
