As many as 4150 fresh Coronavirus positive cases were reported in TN on Sunday, 5th July. Out of this, 56% of the cases belonged to Chennai with 1713 cases and its 3 neighbouring districts Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Tiruvallur had 152 cases, 274 cases and 209 cases respectively. It must be remembered that 2 weeks back these 4 districts contributed to 72% of Coronavirus cases in TN.

Other districts like Madurai, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Virudhunagar and Villupuram in Tamil Nadu contributed to 308 cases, 179 cases, 141 cases, 113cases and 109 cases yesterday. 

Currently, the total number of active Coronavirus cases in TN stands at 46,860. There were as many as 60 deaths on Sunday. Other districts of TN contributed to 30% deaths and Chennai city had the rest 42% deaths on Sunday.  

It must be noted that 2/3rd of persons who have passed away yesterday were above 60 years of age with co-morbid conditions like BP, diabetes etc. There were 3 persons below 60 age and they have died due to respiratory failure. They lived in and around Chennai. 

Total number of deaths reported in TN crossed 1500 yesterday and this is now the fourth highest in India. Information is as many as 34,831 samples were tested on Sunday.
