The lockdown in Chennai and its neighbouring places that was imposed from 19th June 2020 has ended now. The Chennai residents are feeling frustrated and exhausted after the long and extended lockdown that was done to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

It is now brought to light that after easing the restrictions prior to the lockdown from 19th June the residents have found this new shutdown difficult to adjust.

According to some residents belonging to Chennai, the city was on the curve to normal life as offices and few restaurants had opened and they began to function. This latest shutdown from 19th June was more burdensome.

A Chennai based designer expressed her views on this latest shutdown and said after just returning back to work the new shutdown was announced. She added that after getting the sense of normalcy in Chennai with some office work it was tough going back once again in the lockdown and working from home. She was happy that the lockdown has ended now as she would be able to go to her office.

It was later mentioned by a Chennai based analyst that working from home has been difficult for many residents of Chennai as their mental health gets affected. There was no division between home and work. He added that the increased amount of work and living alone have led to depression.

Mixed reactions were received regarding total shutdown on the Sundays. Some people were of the view that it was not effective as Chennai already had many Coronavirus positive cases.

Few people appreciated the lockdown on the Sundays and said it was a smart move from the TN government. They were of the view that an increase in Coronavirus cases has been due to the contacts and restricting the movement by lockdown would stop it from spreading.
