Welcome rain cools down Chennai Metro City!

With the heavy rains during the night yesterday (21st night to 22nd morning) in the districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur, the intense heat experienced thus far got subsided and there was a pleasant climate!

It rained heavily in several places in Chennai Metro City yesterday (Sunday, 21st June) at 10,00 PM. There were medium rains in several locations including Royappetta, Thiruvallikkeni, Ashok Nagar, Theagaraya Nagar, Mylapore, Thousand Lights, Valasarawalkam, and others. As compared to the intense heat with high humidity experienced just before in the afternoon, the rain was a very welcome change leading to a pleasant agreeable climate!

It rained quite heavily with strong winds for over half-an-hour in Kanchipuram yesterday night.

There were heavy rains in areas including Wallajabad, Sunkuwarchathiram, Chinnaiyan Chathiram, Orikkai, Sevilimedu Bus Station, Pookkadai, Chatham Oli, Mujammadhupettai, Kuruvimedu, Ponnerikkarai, and Vellaigate.

There was quite a widespread rain in Thirucvallur district that brought down the heat intensity. It rained in the areas Thiruvallur, Oothukkottai, Periyapalayam, Gummidipoondi, Arambakkam, Ponneri, Chozhavaram, Janapachathiram, Minjur, etc. The streets were flooded with rainwater.

In this situation, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild to medium rain tomorrow in the districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It further informed that there are prospects for heavy rains in a few places in the districts of Coimbatore, Nilgiri, Theni, and Dindigul lying adjacent to the Western Ghat mountain range.
