It is now known that the lecturers, non-teaching staffs in government based arts, science, engineering and polytechnic colleges have been asked to come for work this week. The latest information is the higher education department has decided to provide transport facilities for these persons.

The government and government aided engineering and polytechnic colleges come under DOTE and the state owned arts and science colleges come under directorate of collegiate education.

It must be noted that about 70 percent of workforce in government colleges were dependent on the public transport. This was according to a senior officer belonging to the higher education department. For the sake of doing new academic year works and for admissions etc, all the faculties and the non-teaching staffs of government as well as government aided colleges were asked to come to work.

Initially, there was no idea of providing transport facilities to the staffs etc but later after receiving many requests for transport facilities from the faculty in TN, decision about providing transport was taken. Truth is details of the staffs needing transport facilities have been provided to the transport department.

It is now brought out that the employees would be picked up from one particular point and later dropped at the same point. By this move, about 10,000 teaching as well as non-teaching staffs would be benefited.

Social distancing would be maintained and there would be just 20 persons allowed in a single vehicle. Vehicles would be available for all the employees as the staffs would be less now and the transport department has agreed to provide required number of vehicles.

All the faculty members and non-teaching staffs would get a chance to work to complete all the works before reopening the educational institutions for the new academic year. This would be carried out by following shift based rotation system. This was according to an official.
