Chennai records 41.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, heat warning issued

The city of Chennai recorded the maximum of 41.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and this is now the hottest day in the year 2020.

It has been revealed by the Regional Meteorological Department or RMD that the weather would be hot and dry for the next 2 days. In Chennai, in the year 2019, the highest temperature recorded was 41.5 degree Celsius is known.

An official belonging to the RMD spoke about how few days ago warning was issued about the weather turning extremely hot while cyclone Amphan passes by. High temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius was recorded at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 41.4 degree Celisus.

It is now said that for the next 2 days the temperature would be around 42 degrees Celsius and it might increase further causing huge discomfort. At some isolated places in TN, there would be thunderstorms along with lightning also. On Tuesday, Nungambakkam recorded a minimum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 25.7 degrees Celsius.

Heat warning has been issued by the weathermen for the remaining part of TN. At the isolated places over interior districts, the temperature could be in the range of 42 degrees Celsius.

Important information is public as well as farmers have been advised not to expose themselves to direct sun from 11:30 am till 3:30 pm for the next 2 days. It is known that Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC was established in 1945 ad RMC Chennai is one of the 6 meteorological centres belonging to IMD.
