The schools have been closed now in the state of Tamil Nadu. The latest news is to decide on the reopening of the schools after the lock down gets lifted in TN, the TN government has decided to constitute an expert committee.
Many teachers as well as parents were not clear about the reopening of the schools and this has now made the School Education Department to form an expert committee.
This expert committee would have members of the School Education Department plus others like academicians and representatives from Health and Family Welfare Wing etc. This was confirmed by a senior official belonging to the Directorate of School Education.
It is believed that the members would meet at the secretariat soon after the shut down gets lifted and then would discuss the pandemic to get initial clarity on when the schools could be reopened.
The important information collected is the representations of teacher’s forums and PTAs from all the districts of TN would be called for further discussion by the authorities. This would be after the first phase of meeting. During the meeting, the authorities would get feedback and recommendations from various representatives and for the purpose of consideration the final decision would be sent to the government.
For the sake of conducting inspections in the schools including private institutions, a separate team of educational authorities would be formed in each district. School hostels and Anganwadi centres would also be inspected. Precautionary steps would be taken by the school management before reopening of the institutions and this would be based on the report.
