Strong winds at 40-50 kmph may blow in the Southeast Bay of Bengal - South Andaman areas!

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that due to the reasons of convective rain phenomenon and the cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere, there are prospects of rain with thunder in the next 24 hours in the delta districts and the interior districts in a few places.

In a notification, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has further informed that there are prospects strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph may blow in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Madurai, Theni, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Virushunagar, Thirunelveli, and Thoothukudi and there are prospects of heavy rains with thunder.

On 1st May, Cyclone winds at speeds of 40 to 50 kmph - and sometimes 60 kmph - may blow in the areas of South Andaman and adjacent the southeast Bay of Bengal.

On 2nd May, in the areas of South Andaman and adjacent south Bay of Bengal strong winds may blow from 45 to 55 kmph - sometimes 65 kmph.

On 3rd and 4th May, in the areas of South Andaman and adjacent south Bay of Bengal strong winds, may blow from 50 to 60 kmph – sometimes 70 kmph.

Further, the sea in these places will be extremely turbulent! Hence, the Meteorological Centre has warned the fishermen to venture fishing on these days!

As regards Chennai Metro City, it will remain cloudy. A maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 28 Degrees Celsius may be recorded.

In the last 24 hours, a maximum rainfall of 7 cm has been recorded at Krishnagiri District Rayakotta. 6 cm rainfall has been recorded at  Hosur, Hoganekal, and Pennagaram and 5 cm rainfall has been recorded at Mettur.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is the prospect of a low-pressure zone to develop in the south Andaman sea area.  It may intensify into a depression zone and drift towards the northeast and it will drift towards Myanmar and Bangladesh.
