UGC: Academic year 2020-21 for colleges to commence from 1st August!

The University Grants Commission has ordered that the summer vacation be extended to the higher academic institutions until 30th June. UGC also recommended that all the colleges may reopen from 1st August for the current academic year 2020-21.

UGC has ordered that the semester examinations be conducted in July. The final semester examinations may be conducted during July. UGC has further instructed that for the 1st and 2nd-year students, no examinations need to be conducted and grades may be given based on the internal assessment.

Further, UGC has recommended that the admission for the students who are to join the 1st year of various degree courses, can commence from 1st August. The classes may be commenced on 1st September.

It is recommended that the classes for the 2nd and 3rd-year students may commence from 1st August itself.

UGC has also recommended that the duration of the examinations may be reduced from 3 hours per subject to 2 hours in order to simplify the examinations.
