At a time when Corona virus is creating huge fear on the people all over, Thursday, 9th April was an amazing day for the Chennai residents. Chennai city received rains in the evening and this has surprised the residents. The temperature has been increasing slowly in April and the sudden rains have cooled the Chennai city now.
It was predicted by some weather experts that on Friday Chennai city would have cloudy sky and there would be rains in some places.
Yesterday, many places like Porur, Vandalur, Velachery, Ashok Nagar, Avadi etc received sharp spells for nearly a hour in the evening. Gusty winds were present in some places in the Chennai city.
It was pointed out by Mr. M. Puviarasan, director, Area, Cyclone Warning Centre, Chennai that a trough was running from Madhya Pradesh to south TN extending up to 900 m above mean sea level. He added that this weather system and convective activity has been the cause for the thunderstorms in many localities in Chennai.
From Friday, Chennai would get back the dry weather and it is revealed that a change in the wind direction from the present south easterlies to easterly winds would keep the day temperatures close to normal in Chennai.
