Diversion of 900mm water pipeline across Poonamallee High Road for Metro Station

An interconnection for 900mm water pipeline (laid in 1950’s) was carried out at Kilpauk Medical College Underground Metro Station. The total length of pipeline diverted is 90m out of which 20m length were laid across Poonnamallee High road using Trenchless Technology. This is the first time trenchless technology has been used for laying pipeline for CMRL diversion work. Normally this type of work takes 36 hrs, because of the availability of sophisticated equipments and sufficient labour forces, CMRL were able to complete the work in 13 hrs.
