Lip-smacking aval - laddu (rice-flake sweet balls) - Ayudha Pooja Special!

The recipe for making lip-smacking Aval Laddu (sweet balls with rice flakes):

Ingredients
  • 2½ cups Aval (rice flake), thick
  • 1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
  • 1 cup coconut, grated
  • 1 cup Nattu Sakkarai (unrefined sugar)
  • ½ cup ghee / clarified butter
  • 10 kaju (cashew nuts) halves
  • 2 tbsp kishmish (Dried grapes or raisins)

Instructions
  • Dry roast 2½ cup Aval on low flame for 10 minutes or until it turns crisp.
  • Cool completely and transfer to the blender.
  • Blend to a fine powder without adding any water. Keep aside.
  • In a pan, heat 1 tsp ghee and roast 1 cup coconut.
  • Roast on low flame until it turns dry and golden brown.
  • Transfer to the blender and add 1 cup Nattu Sakkarai.
  • Transfer to the same bowl of aval powder and mix well.
  • Now heat ½ cup ghee and roast 10 cashew nuts, 2 tbsp raisins.
  • Roast on low flame until it turns golden brown.
  • Pour the hot ghee over the flour and mix well.
  • Combine well using a spoon.
  • Ghee absorbs well and turns the moist mixture.
  • Now prepare ball-sized laddu.
  • Store in an air-tight container and enjoy yummy, lip-smacking aval laddu for up to 2 weeks!
