Audit find many violations in Madras University

Posted on: 04/Apr/2013 11:17:36 AM
The University of Madras’s local audit fund has found that the institution has committed serious violations when it comes to the distance learning courses in Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) and Masters in Computer Applications (MCA).

Students for the three courses have been admitted without an entrance exam which violates UGC guidelines. Also the MBA course which should be for three years has been revised to two instead. This violates both AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and  DEC (Distance Education Council) norms.

A source from the University said, ‘We are confident that the new vice-chancellor will certainly resolve the issue as he had served the university for over three decades. IDE (Institute of Distance Education) was always embroiled in controversies and irregularities so the university needs to revamp the functioning of the institute.’
