The district collector of Kanchipuram has appealed to the public that as the teeming and swelling crowd of devotees has been on the increasing trend, the senior citizens who cannot cope up with physical exertion and the pregnant ladies must avoid to the most possible extent visiting Kanchipuram for a Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar.

The major event/festival of Lord Athi Varadhar offering Darshan in Kanchipuram Lord Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram occurs only once in 40 years.

This year 2019, the Darshan of the Lord Athi Varadhar commenced on 1st July.

Right from the very 1st day, there has been a teeming and ever-swelling crowd of devotees desiring to have a Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar!

With this ever-increasing huge waiting crowd of devotees, it takes 4 hours to 6 hours for the devotees to have Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar.

Apart from this, there is a swelling crowd in the VIP Queue Line of devotees as well! 2 days, a tragic event of a few devotees losing lives occurred due to unmanageable crowds of devotees and suffocation.

In the above anxious scenario, the district collector of Kanchipuram has appealed to the devotees!

As the crowd level of devotees coming for a Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar has been increasing day-by-day to an unmanageably teeming and swelling crowds, it takes anywhere between 4 hours to 6 hours to have the Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar. So, there is an earnest and respectful ardent appeal from the administration that the devotees who are bringing along senior citizens, patients/sick people, pregnant women, and those who carry infants must avoid taking them in the queue to the maximum extent possible!
