In the past few days, rains were experienced in places like Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Thiruttani etc. In the Chennai city, strong winds seem to have kept the rains away. Over the next few days, there would be good amounts of rains in the Chennai city and this was predicted by the meteorological department. In the last 2 days of time, Chennai received rains in some parts and it was not consistent. It must be noted that the clouds formed either over northern or southern areas and dissipated quickly.

Later it was mentioned by some experts that clouds that have been formed due to convective activity have been dissipated by strong winds in high altitudes. Now, It is said that clouds are not dense and rain in the month of July is due to the convective activity.

An official belonging to meteorological department pointed out that clouds formed in the west moved towards east. Wind played spoilsport by the time clouds formed in the west moved towards the coast. The information collected is rain clouds are present between 6500 ft to 39000 ft altitude. The superb piece of news is in the next 2 days in Chennai city there would be good rains and this was according to the weather bloggers and meteorological department.

It was explained by an official that the conditions have become favourable for the rains but the quantity of rains would depend on many factors. The point is if the clouds are formed after 8 pm they would sustain due to cooling in the upper level of atmosphere. This was as per the deputy director general of IMD, Mr. Balachandran. He explained how clouds formed in the afternoons dont withstand the strong winds in high altitudes. He later commented about clouds not being dense.

Information gathered is areas around the city especially those in the north-western part of TN do not face the situation and got good rains on Saturday night. It must be noted that Maduranthagam near the city of Chennai received just 1 cm of rains whereas other places like Tiruttani, Pallipattu in Tiruvallur district, Vellore, Arani near Thiruvannamalai received 6 cm, 8 cm, 4 cm and 4 cm of rains respectively. On Saturday, build up of strong clouds moving towards to the coast from west skipped Chennai.

Forecast from meteorological department said that sky is likely to be cloudy and there would be light to moderate rainfall in some areas. Maximum temperature would be 37 degree Celsius and minimum temperature would be 27 degree Celsius.
