Chennai city has been experiencing temperatures closed to 40 degrees Celsius in the last few days making the lives of people very difficult. Now the meteorological department has issued heat wave warning on Tuesday, 9th July 2019. This has become the topic for discussion for many now. It must be noted that Chennai city might get some spells of rain in this week but there would not be any respite from the heat.
In Chennai, Kancheepuram and in Thiruvallur, the maximum temperatures would be 2 to 3 degrees above the normal. This was as per the warning issued by the meteorological department. For the next 2 days, the maximum and minimum temperatures predicted are 40 degree Celsius and 30 degree Celsius respectively. Information collected is heat wave occurs when the temperature hovers around 40 degree Celsius consistently.
The temperatures around 40 degrees in the month of July is regarded very high by the meteorological department. It is now said that the rains in July might not be continuous but would be more than what Chennai got in the month of June. On Tuesday, rain has not been forecasted though the sky would be cloudy. Important information is places such as Tuticorin, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Madurai and Thiruvarur are expected to get rains. The break monsoon period for the northern parts of India might result in showers on 9th July. This was according to some private weather bloggers.
Monday, 8th July, was very hot and the maximum temperature recorded was 38.2 degrees at Nungambakkam which was 2.3 degrees above the normal. The minimum temperature recorded was 29.8 degree Celsius and that was 3 degrees above the normal. Information gathered is Meenambakkam recorded maximum temperature of 39.8 degrees Celsius and that was 3.1 degrees higher than the normal. The minimum temperature recorded was 28.8 degrees that was 2 degrees above the normal.
