The important information is more and more schools in Chennai city are closing now temporarily due to water scarcity issue in Chennai. This closing of schools is taking place at a time when the chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswamy is claiming about the absence of water scarcity in the schools in Chennai.

It is important to mention here that Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao Matriculation School in Chetpet has declared a holiday on Saturday for the students studying in the classes 1 to 8 due to the lack of water. The shocking piece of news is from Thursday there was not enough water in the restrooms belonging to this Chetpet based school.

According to Mr. K.S. Rajan, manager of Madras Seva Sadan, organization running this above mentioned school, buckets full of water was taken from the swimming pool and the water scarcity issue was managed temporarily. He later commented that the water crisis in the school could not be solved by this method of taking water from the swimming pool. Hence holiday was announced on Saturday.

It must be taken into account that another popular ICSE school belonging to R.A Puram would also be closed down for the want of water. This was announced to the parents through emails by the school management.

Important information collected is a notice board has been put up in front of Khatri Matriculation School in Kancheepuram district stating that the school would work for half day for those students studying from pre-kinder garden to class 5. It is worthy to mention that some schools have been collecting money from the parents to supply water for their kids through water tankers

It is known that the school education minister, Mr. Sengottaiyan few days back spoke about how it is the responsibility of the school management to provide adequate water for every student and how the government does not have any role in this. Interesting information is not just schools even high end residential complexes like Metrozone near Koyambedu bus stand are now announcing about the water scarcity to its occupants. The maintenance department of this Metrozone had sent a message to its occupants and as per the message the vendors could not supply water to the premises due to water scarcity. The timelines when the things would return to normal cannot be given and hence the residents are requested to use minimal water.

It must not be forgotten that the cost of water cans for bubble tops have increased now. In an important locality like Nanganallur, on Wednesday and on Thursday the cans were not available. Important information is they are now being sold at Rs 40 to Rs 50 per can from the previous rate of Rs 30 to Rs 35 a can.
