Police orders closure of Queensland Amusement Park

Posted on: 21/Jun/2019 5:48:37 PM
Subsequent to the recent major accident in which the giant-wheel called ‘free fall’ was cut and fell down in the Queensland Amusement  Park, located adjacent to Chennai, the Police have ordered the closure of the amusement park.

The Queensland Amusement park was located and operating in Poonamalle, adjacent to the Chennai Metro City. As a part of the amusement equipment, there was a giant-wheel known as ‘FREE FALL’ was also being operated. In boxes-like arrangement linked to a tower-like formation, the public was made to sit in the boxes and making them seemingly fall from a height.

Yesterday (Thursday, 20th June), one of the boxes attached to the tower-like arrangement got cut and fell down. However, as the box got cut only after it fell down, a major catastrophe was averted.  With this, the 12 persons in the box got saved with only minor injuries.

As the boxes were linked to the tower-like arrangement with iron rods which got cut, the accident occurred.  In this situation, the Police has ordered the Queensland Amusement Park to be closed.

The Police have asked for the ‘Stability Certificate’ (a certificate for protection) for all the equipment set up in the park to allow the reopening of the Amusement Park.
