Prospects of mild to medium rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

As there are cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the South India Zone, the Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre informed that there are prospects of mild to medium rain in the next 2 days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

During a session with the press reporters, he shared: ‘With the onset of the southwest monsoon rainy season on 8th June in Kerala, the drift of the rain/clouds towards northern direction was blocked by the cyclone ‘Vayu’. Presently, The southwest monsoon rainy season is set in the other part of Tamil Nadu, and commenced in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra areas.

There are prospects of heavy rains in mountainous range districts such as Nilgiri, Dindigul, Theni, and Coimbatore.

There are prospects of mild to medium rain in the Chennai Metro City and the suburban areas. The present high intensity of heat will subside gradually in Tamil Nadu.

With the average expected rainfall level during the period from 1st June in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry being 39.6 mm, the actual recording of rainfall this year has only been 24.8 mm.
