The superb news that has come out now is a weather system is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal and it might trigger overcast conditions in Chennai. It is said that this could provide some relief for the residents of Chennai city in this weekend. It is well known that the Chennai people have been experiencing scorching heat for a long time now. Point to be noted is hot weather conditions might persist on Thursday too.

According to the officials belonging to the meteorological department it is brought out that the chances of rainfall are slim for the next 2 days of time. Chennai city has been waiting for a break from this long dry spell is known. Usually the temperatures would come down in the month of June but in 2019 the month of June has been very hot. Chennai has recorded more than 10 hot days where the temperatures during the day have crossed 40 degree Celsius.

The shocking information is on Wednesday, 19th June 2019, Chennai recorded a maximum temperature of 42.1 degree Celsius. The increase in the temperatures has been due to the prevailing westerly and north-westerly winds.

In the next 2 or 3 days, a low pressure is likely to develop over North Bay of Bengal and this would change the wind direction to south-westerly and control the peaking temperature. It must be noted that the south-westerly winds would allow the penetration of the sea breeze and might bring convective rains. This was as per Mr. Puviarasan who is the director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre.

In AP as well as in Odisha, the weather conditions might bring rainfall and it would have an indirect impact in the soaring temperatures. Information collected is there might not be significant rainfall in Chennai for the next 2 days. It must not be forgotten that on 3rd June 1948 city of Chennai experienced all time high temperature of 43.3 degrees. In places such as Coimbatore, Nilgris, Theni and Dindigul, there would be light rainfall on Thursday. This was as per the forecast made by the meteorological department.
