It is now said that this would be cleared by the end of June and soon regular traffic flow would begin. This would bring huge relief on the faces of many now in Chennai.

Chennai Metro rail underground work has been going on for the last 6 years in various locations on the popular Anna Salai like Government Estate, LIC and Thousand Lights. This has resulted in constriction of the road space and commuters and vehicles have been finding it difficult here.

The important point is in another 2 weeks of time the construction works of additional entry/exit points on the Anna Salai would be completed. This was later confirmed by the officials of CMRL.

It was mentioned by an official belonging to CMRL that few months back the final stretch between AG-DMS till Washermanpet was opened and at that point of time there was just 2 entry/exit points functional at most stations in Chennai. He added that the work on the construction of remaining entry/exit points was carried out.

The official finally shed light on how the works would be completed in another 2 weeks and how Anna Salai would be opened for the traffic before the end of June month. To resolve this issue at the earliest, CMRL authorities have been holding discussions with the Chennai traffic police.

According to a senior police official, their department has been insisting CMRL to complete the works quickly for the free flow of traffic in Anna Salai. He finally concluded that within a month of time there would be resumption of 2-way traffic on the arterial Anna Salai.

There have been many complaints from the commuters regarding the traffic congestion in Anna Salai. A resident belonging to Royapettah spoke about how it takes about half hour of time to travel from his residence to his workplace in Chintadripet by his car. He cited two main reasons like heavy traffic congestion plus reduced road width.
