Porur based Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research to start engineering college

Located in Porur in Chennai, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, was established in the year 1985. It is a non-profit private higher education institution is well known to us. It is now revealed that this institute would be starting an engineering college in the future. The main objective of this is to bring together non-medical professionals, doctors for the research works. It is now said that by this association simple ingenious and cost effective solutions for healthcare would be found.
From the upcoming academic year, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research would start UG engineering and technology programmes in as many as 5 streams. It is superb to mention here that this institute would offer 60 seats each in B. Tech (Biomedical and Robotic engineering), B. Tech Computer Science and engineering (artificial intelligence and machine learning), B. Tech Computer science and engineering (internet of things and cyber security, including block cyber hacking), B. Tech (computer science and medical engineering) and B. Tech mechanical and mechatronics engineering (additive manufacturing). This would be according to the approval of AICTE for the academic year 2019-20.
As per the university dean (Research), Mr. S.P. Thyagarajan, it is very clear that the university would admit students having mathematics and physics as their core subjects. He also assured about providing bridge courses to those students who do not have biology or computer science subjects.
The dean then spoke about how the deemed university has been planning to start such engineering courses for the last 2 years. He shed light on how the medical equipment and teaching tools used by the university were imported ones. It must be noted that some time back an incubation cell was started on the university campus.
He explained that for the incubation cell to take off the university needs more than just doctors. The dean then highlighted the importance of simulators and said the engineering professionals could help them to make simulators that could be employed in the classrooms. To make stents and implants, the biomedical professionals play a huge role.
The important information collected is many mechanical engineers at the technical institutes, researchers in leather fields, professors of physics, mathematicians and statisticians have played important part in co-authoring research papers in reputed medical journals in India. Dean finally spoke about how some of the above mentioned persons have done tremendous work on the human anatomy and others have developed products like artificial skin bones etc.
