The Sanctum Sanctorum of the main deity at Thiruvannamalai temple to remain open for 4 days

On the occasion of Chithra Pournami (The FullMoon Day during the Tamil calendar month of Chithirai), the sanctum sanctorum of the temple main deity, Lord Arunachaleswarar will remain open for 4 days from 18th April (Thursday) from 5.00 AM tonight as announced by the Temple Deputy Commissioner R. Gnanasekhar. A notification in this regard mentions:

The famous grand Chithra Pournami Festival in Thiruvannamalai will be celebrated from 18th April at 7.05 PM and conclude on 19th April 5/35 PM. It is recommended that he devotees may undertake girivalam during this period.

Arrangements: With due consideration for the benefit of the visiting devotees, the corridors of the temple will open at 5.AM for 4 days 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st April till night when the Sanctum Sanctorum of the main deity will remain open.  The Rs. 50 service Darshan will also, be available.

As huge crowds of visitors are expected for these 4 days, the regular seated Darshan offered by the deities of Sri Arunachaleswarar and Sri Unnamulaiyamma is cancelled during this period. Further, a letter from VIPs for the devotees will not be entertained.
