This is just the month of February and the summer season hasn’t begun. The sensational news that has emerged out is the heat wave has started to hit the state of Tamil Nadu. On Monday, many places in TN recorded temperatures close to 40 degree Celsius.

The important information is Salem recorded the highest temperature of 39 degree Celsius. Temperature of 38 degree Celsius was recorded in Dharmapuri and Coimbatore recorded 37.2 degree Celsius. Tiruttani is about 90 km from Chennai is known. In this place the temperature recorded was 38 degree Celsius. This has now confirmed that the summer days are getting closer in Chennai city. Summer is setting in and this has been confirmed by the IMD or Indian Meteorological Department official.

The official then explained about how these regions heat up first and how the maximum temperatures would increase in the coming days. In the hilly areas the temperature would increase in the coming days. Finally the temperature would increase in Chennai city also. Some respite would be there when normal convective action brings rains and that would last for one or two days only.

The important point is the meteorological department had not forecasted substantial increase in the temperature in Chennai city. There would be a maximum temperature of 33 degree Celsius in Chennai. In the last few days in Chennai city there was not much increase in the maximum temperatures and it was hovering in the range of 32 to 33 degree Celsius. The point is as the maximum temperature gets more the nights would become warmer.

It is important to mention that the mornings were expected to be nippy in Chennai city. It is said that there was no cloud cover to mask the cold temperatures of upper atmosphere from percolating down. As per the prediction made by the meteorological department, there would be dry weather on Monday and for the next 2 days there would be light rains in some parts of TN. It would be partly cloudy in the Chennai city on Tuesday and Wednesday and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be 33 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively.
