With this announcement, there is a chance for 9 successive holidays for all school students and teachers, only 18th January happens to be a working day in the sequence of holidays. In other words, when the schools are set to be closed for Pongal days after the working day on Friday, 11th January, the next day, Saturday, 12th January is a holiday National Youth Day. 13th January is a Sunday.  15th January is the Pongal festival. 16th January is Thiruvalluvar Day. 17th January is Uzhavar Thirunal (Farmers Festival). The subsequent Friday, 19th January, happens to be the only working day for the schools and colleges, As 19th and 20th January are Saturday,  Sunday, the schools will reopen only on 21st January.
