Posted on: 05/Jan/2019 11:35:13 AM
The days are marked in a special system in the Indian Almanac. The days are defined by the stars (27) and the Tamil calendar months (12) and the days are counted in terms of the period from New Moon day to Full Moon Day. Each day is marked as a Thithi.Out of the thithi, the New Moon Day or Amavasya is considered to be the most sacred. That too when there is the combination of the New Moon Day falling on the star of Moolam in the sacred month of Marghazhi (according to the Hindu/Tamil Almanac), it is observed as the Day when the Lord Hanuman, also known as Anjaneya was born o the mother Anjanai,

This holy day is celebrated as Hanuman Jayanthi as a Hindu religion special occasion throughout the country.

This year 2019, the sacred Hanuman Jayanthi falls on today (Saturday, 5th January)

In the Hindu faith, worshipping Lord Anjaneya (Hanuman) is considered equivalent of worshipping Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu at the same time.

In all the temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman or in the temples with special place or Sanctum Sanctorum for Lord Anjaneya throughout Tamil Nadu, special poojas are performed and prayers conducted. The idols/deities of Lord Anjaneya are adorned with garlands made out of Lakhs of Vadas and Laddus and prayed.
