Cyclone Gaja update (Tamil Nadu Weatherman)

Posted on: 14/Nov/2018 2:59:08 PM
Cyclone Gaja has become beautiful after nicely wrapping up clouds and has started the WSW dip. It will intensify further today & tomorrow and will weaken again to cross the coast between Pondy/Cuddalore and Nagai/Vedaranyam around 15th November evening to Night.
==============================
Cyclone Gaja is expected to intensify further today and tomorrow and become a severe cyclone. It will start to weaken before crossing the TN coast around Cuddalore to Vedaranayam around 15th evening to night with wind speeds touching 70-80 km/hr and gusts at times touching 90 km/hr. Please dont zoom in too much on the landfall location + or - 50 km distance variation on landfall point will always be there two days before landfall.

Gaja was never meant to come to Chennai in the first place and has zero chance to move towards Chennai.

Chennai Rains - Rains from Tomorrow morning
--------------------
Most likely to start 15th morning when the first bands (clouds) of the cyclone will fall over Chennai City. Tomorrow we will be seeing Good spell of rains but nothing worrying. Then on 16/17th we will be seeing pull effect rains as the cyclone moves into Arabian Sea. I will be happy satisfied with 150 mm rains in Chennai in 3 days. Hope Gaja gives atleast this rains to us.

Very heavy rains to extreme rains
-------------------------
As the Cyclone is taking WSW route the convection (dense clouds) will be located south of the cyclone landfall point. So Nagapttinam, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Trichy Sivaganga, Madurai, Dindigul, Theni and Ramanathapuram, Ghats in Kovai, Virudhunagar. Somewhere here in Delta and ghats and south interior TN there is going to be that extreme rain (Red alert rain of atleast one place recording 205 mm rain or above).

Others such as Cuddalore, Pondy, Nellai and other northern interior and coastal belt will also get rains.
