Grand celebration of Garuda Seva held at Tirupathi

On the day of the Garuda Seva in the ongoing Tirupathi Navaratri Brahmotsavam, the deity of the Lord Malayappa Swami was adorned and taken on the carriage of the Golden Garuda and taken on a procession around the corridors and the streets offering Darshan to lakhs of devotees.

During the grand festival of Navaratri Bramosavam, the deity of the Lord Malayappa Swami is taken on a procession on various carriage around the corridors and street of the temple.

`Garuda Seva’ has been traditionally considered as the most prominent in this Brahmotsavam. This was performed yesterday (Sunday, 14th October).

The deity of the Lord Malayappa swami was adorned with Lakshmi Aaram (originally adorned on the main deity) and other special jewellery items and was taken on the specially decorated and adorned carriage of the Golden Garuda and taken on a procession. The procession progresses with lakhs of devotees participating, having grand Darshan and chanting, ‘Govinda!, Govinda!!’.

Prior to the procession of the Garuda Seva, the devotees/artistes who had come from different states of the country performed a cultural programme. Devotees, with the make-up, went on a procession in the form of the 10 Avatars (Dasavatharam) taken by Lord Vishnu.

Though it was raining heavily with a strong downpour, the lakhs of devotees withstood the same, spread their umbrellas and had the Darshan of Lord Malayappa Swami on the carriage of Golden Garuda to their hearts’ content!
