As there is a low-pressure zone formed over the Bay of Bengal, a warning has been issued to all the northern coastal districts in Tamil Nadu including Chennai district.

As the southwest monsoon seemed to have lost its intensity over the last few days, has gained intensity again since a week ago. As the wind is blowing towards the east this time, the natural conditions in the Bay of Bengal have changed.

A low-pressure zone has formed since day-before-yesterday (Saturday, 15th September) stretching from Andaman islands up to Andhra and Odisha coastal areas.

The low-pressure zone has now into strong depression zone yesterday night. Along with this depression, a cyclonic format has also developed over the coastal areas. Because of this, there are prospects of sudden rain in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Nagappatinam, and the coastal districts in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The winds will blow stronger than usual. The ocean waves will tend to be turbulent.

So, the Indian Navy has issued a warning to the fishermen in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and neighbourhood not to venture into the sea.

In a weather bulletin issued by the Chennai Meteorological Centre, it is informed that there are prospects of mild rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
