Prospects of mild rain today

The final phase of the southwest monsoon rainy season has commenced. The rain has abated over the last 3 days. There is sudden rain in a few places now and then.
There are prospects of mild rains in the interior districts and the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai city will remain cloudy. The Chennai Meteorological Centre has estimated that there are prospects of rain in the evening or the night sessions.
As at 8.30 AM yesterday (13th September) up to the last 24 hours, a maximum rainfall of 5 cm rain was recorded in Ambur, Vellore district.
