How to get electricity connection?

The application for getting an electricity connection is available in the TANGEDCO (TNEB) offices. Get the Form-1, fill up and submit. No charges are being collected for the issue of this application form.
Certain questions asked in the application should be answered properly and in full. The proof of ownership where the electrical connection is sought must be given clearly. In other words, certain legal valid documents such as registration of the property should be ok.
Note that it is still possible to ask for electricity connection even if not owning the premises. For this purpose, Form-5 is specifically designed. So, when the application for electricity connection is made without the owner, the concerned individual must get the requisite Form-5, and while filling up, a copy of the letter from the owner giving permission for the connection must be attached. In case the owner refuses, the applicant has to provide the proof/certificate having to be responsible to ask for the electricity connection.
The applicant will have to obtain and submit the documents pertaining to the construction being legal, or the certificates when repair works are being taken up or obtain the necessary clearance, agreement, or permission from the concerned government official. The applicants need to follow the Civil High Court Orders and other details.
The filled up applications may be submitted directly to the relevant office or sent by post and a proper receipt must be obtained for this.
The fee for getting the electricity connection must be paid and registered..
Once the application for a fresh electricity connection is submitted, a notice will be received to fix the exact location of the energy meter for this connection to be given in contact with the local EB office engineers.
Though they may be multi-storeyed buildings, there is a strict rule that all the energy meters are to be fixed only on the ground floor.
A letter will be sent by the EB office to make the required payments within the given time to the applicant.
The activities regarding giving the electricity connection will be undertaken only after all necessary payments have been made.
The applicant should allow the pillar posts to be erected if required in the premises without any charges. The applicant will also determine the route for laying the cables.wires. erection of pillar posts, etc., at their own cost.
The complete and safe wiring activities within the building must have been completed with this work being done by EB approved agencies. Once this is completed, the applicant should inform the same. The applicant may indicate that it is ready for the EB engineer to visit and check.
Once the basic work for giving new connection is completed, a notice will be sent to the applicant to get the connection.
