Heavy Rains continue to lash Cauvery catchment, Kerala, Valparai, Nilgiris while rains to reduce in Kanyakumari and Nellai district from today

The number from Cauvery catchment today will be huge. Madikeri has got 200 mm till early morning. Huge numbers can be expected from Talacauvery, Bhagamandala and Galibeedu today in Kodagu. so more inflows into KRS dam which is already letting out 1 lakh cusecs to Mettur.
Kerala - Rains to shift to Central and North Kerala while South kerala, Nellai and Kanyakumari will see respite from today

Eranakulam and Idukki, next set of clouds bands moving in. More rains can be expected in Kerala today but south Kerala such as Trivandrum and nearby districts will see reduction in rains. As the low moves via maharashtra to Gujarat the action will slowly shift from south kerala. Idukki Wayanad, kozhikode, Thrissur, wayanad will be still getting heavy rains today and tomorrow too.
Overall rains to reduce drastically after 19th August in Kerala
Tamil Nadu - Valparai and Nilgiris in for super duper rains today - Massive rains expected here.

So Kanyakumari and nellai happy news for the flood affected places some isolated spells can occur. Mostly the widespread heavy rains has come to an end in South kerala / Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli. Gundar has got 121 mm, Adavinayanar 121 mm, while Sencottah has recorded 89 mm while papanasam dam has recorded 58 mm. Today it will be much much less.
Valparai and Nilgiris watch out today too. Its going to pour non stop in the ghat regions of these two places. Valparai many stations have reporting 200-300 mm rainfall. In nilgiris, Devala has recorded 171 mm rainfall in nilgiris.
Amaravathy dam inflow is going to jump manyfold with heavy rains in Chinnakallar Valparai belt. 31000 cusecs is being released from Amaravathy, thats huge. So more water into Cauvery.
Overall rains to reduce drastically after 19th August in Valparai and Nilgiris
Remember after 2005, Mettur inflow and outflows are set to cross 2 lakh cusecs mark.The water will be flowing in entire width of the cauvery. So stay away from banks of the cauvery.
