Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway extending till Maduravoyal

A proposed project of connecting Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway (BCE) to Maduravoyal comes with a six lane road extension from Sriperumbudur. The road will connect the highway along with the core of the city, Chennai Port-Maduavoyal elevated express way.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announces the six lane road will be laid with an estimated project amount of Rs 3000 crore running along the Poonamalle road. The project will have a vertically elevated construction model of a 22 km stretch to avoid land acquisition and social disturbances for the public residing in the areas for many decades.

According to the NHAI officials the earlier plan of the body is to connect the BCE with the outer ring road of Chennai. After many analysis the construction of the road to the core part of the city can lead to better connectivity for public and commercial purposes. Vehicles reaching the port can now have better connectivity along with the Bengaluru Chennai highways. For both the expressway BCE and the Maduravoyal extension the tenders are in the process of finalizing before the official announcement before March 2019. Study revealed a 30 months period for the completing the construction of the six lane elevated road.

Karnataka government will have the BCE to connect along with Satellite Town ring road running through Dobbspet, Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Hosur, Anekal, Hosakote, Ramanagara and Magadi. The environmental clearance for the safety of green zones and social livelihood will be taken into account and once it is approved the tenders will be officially awarded for the construction for the three states, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

After the completion of the project the connection will be tagged as South India’s first expressway. Frequent travelers from Chennai between the two major cities considers the project as a better way of reaching the main hubs of the city through the expressway.
