I am 30 year old married woman. I have been married for 5 years. I do not have a baby yet. And I do not have the intention of having babies as I feel it is too much of a responsibility. I want to concentrate on my work. But my husband wants babies. He is very angry about my decision. We fight about this often. Am I wrong in not wanting a baby? - Rajeshwari from Saidapet

Hi Rajeshwari,

To have a baby or not is your entirely choice. It is good you want to concentrate on your profession. But, why do you consider having babies will deter your success?

So many successful women have babies and they are able to concentrate on their profession also. So, take away the feeling that having babies will prevent you from being successful in your work.

You are just thirty. So you might feel that your job is more important than having babies. You are wrong, as children are the cementing force of your relationship. Do not think you will always feel babies are a deterrent to your job.

As you age, you will feel empty and lost without children. Do you know there are many times children make marriages work in spite of the many differences couples face? Yes!

There are many marriages which has survived solely because of children. When you are young, you might be passionate about many things in your life. You are also very passionate about your profession. You are very ambitious to go up the ladder of success. So, you feel having a baby will be too much of a distraction to you.

But, when you delay having a baby at this age, there are chances of delayed pregnancy. And this is not good for your health. There are also many chances of birth defects in your children. You do not want this to happen to you, do you?

As you age, you will definitely long for a child of your own. And you might not be lucky to have one. When you have children, it is a delightful responsibility and not a burden as you feel. I think you should change your mind about having a baby. This is the right age for you to conceive. The more you delay, the more complicated your pregnancy will become. So, think about it carefully and take a wise decision.
