Strong prospects of heavy rains in 5 districts

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that as the southwest monsoon seasonal rains have intensified, there are prospects of heavy rains in the 5 districts lying adjacent to the Western Ghat mountain range - Theni, Dindigul, Nilgiri, Kovai, and Tirunelveli.
There are prospects of rain with thunder in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to the prevailing phenomenon of thermal convection.
