Madurai court orders stay towards plea for grace marks in NEET

A stay order is imposed towards the case where Madurai bench of Madras High Court had offered 196 grace marks to NEET candidates who took up the examination in Tamil. The grace mark was to be given towards translation error.

The order got stayed by the bench of Justices comprising L Nageswara Rao and SA Bobde. This was rolled out towards the CBSE plea to challenge the high court order.

The matter will come for hearing in another two weeks. Both the parties are told to come up with a solution. It is not possible to dole out marks for this, it adds.

Compared to the others, those who have selected Tamil language are beneficial, the court observes.

On 10th July, the Madurai bench of Madras High Court has ordered to grant 196 marks in the calculation of four marks for each of the 49 translation questions all of which were erroneous. These are in this year NEET examination in Tamil for all students who took up the exam in their regional language.
