The awareness about good touch, bad touch becomes essential for the children even as the trend of the barbaric sexual acts committed on them keep increasing.

No one has any business or the right to touch any child without its approval. So, it is really essential that children should be categorically explained that they are indeed the owners of their bodies.

It has been observed that more than 80% of the persons who misbehave with the kids and subject them to sexual torture are all well-known to the concerned children. So, the children may have reservations to talk about them to the parents. But, in any case, it is always advisable to listen fully when the children talk about such things. The temperament among the kids that they must always obey the elders is extremely risky.

The children must be trained that they must object immediately whenever they feel wrong with the person physically touching them. The western countries observe that it is not at all necessary to touch the children below the neck. So, the children must be trained to object if someone touches them below their necks.

When teaching the kids about the other organs of the body such a head, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and teeth, it is extremely advisable to teach them the names of their private parts and their function.

The children must be cautioned to object of someone ventures to touch in the wrong areas and also report the same immediately to their parents.

It is essential to keep a watch/monitor the children when they return after their school sessions as well as when they return home after playing. It is better to listen closely to their experiences and also it is wiser not to find fault with them.

It is also better to monitor whether any person is trying to move closer to the child especially in the lift/staircase areas or whether they offer to give a present or threaten them.

In case any suspicion arises, it is essential to get the full information without unduly terrifying the child. The children should be brought to avoid being meek or docile and should be trained to move with confidence. The children must be explained that showing courage is always appreciated.

In the case when the child appears tense/nervous or in a terribly worried condition, or if any wounds/scars/marks are seen on the body, talk softly to the child and get the full information. It is better to keep explaining them at least once a week about what is `good touch and what is bad touch. Note that this true for both the boys and the girls.  Better remember that the parents need to take the initiative to talk first and then only the children will respond.
