Heavy rain alert issued for 5 districts in Tamil Nadu

The southwest monsoon rainy season has been pretty active in the states of Kerala and Karnataka where it has been raining since last 1 month.
In the state of Tamil Nadu, it has been raining in the areas/districts lying adjacent to the Western Ghat mountain range.
In this situation, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are very strong prospects of heavy rains in the 5 Tamil Nadu districts of Theni, Dindigul, Kovai, Nilgiri, and Nellai lying adjacent to the mountain range in the next 48 hours.
The Chennai Meteorological Centre has further informed that due to the phenomenon of thermal convection, there are prospects of rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu including the Chennai Metro City and Puducherry.
