Posted on: 14/Jul/2018 3:47:36 PM
Commuters can now change their mode of transports easily with the help of new bus shelters set up close to the metro stations along Anna Salai stretch. A recent meeting that comprised the official bodies of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) and Chennai Corporation took this decision of placing bus shelters near the metro stations for easy travelling within the city and the outskirts.

After thorough inspection and observation by these three entities of transportation of the city the plan to shift the bus shelters to the close proximity of metro stations was officially decided. With this new plan many facilities are likely to get introduced in the metro stations of Teynampet, Saidapet, AG-DMS and Nandanam, said the sources of CMRL. Chennai Corporation will work alongside with MTC and CMRL for making the two modes of transpirations easily accessible for the commuters in terms of distance.

MTC plans to install 21 bus shelters replacing the old ones and damaged shelters within the city. Adyar, Kodambakkam, Velachery Bypass road near Phoenix mall, Triplicane police station, Semmozhi Poonga bus stop and Vadapazhani Murugan koil bus stop are some of the hubs where new shelters will be installed within the first week of August.

On the contrary many shelters in the areas of Chindadripet, Egmore and Ashok Nagar are damaged and poorly maintained by the authorities. Commuters constantly complains about the leakage of roofs in these bus shelters and for the replacement.
