2nd Phase of counselling for medical course stopped

Posted on: 13/Jul/2018 11:56:27 AM
The central government had announced regarding a single examination for admission to the medical courses throughout the country - NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test). This is presently conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and a pass in NEET is mandatory for admission to the medical courses. However, there has been strong opposition to this. Further, due to various maloperations in conducting the examination including the setting of the question papers, the candidates are subjected to great confusion and find it extremely difficult to pass in NEET.

In this scenario, a petition in the interest of the public was presented to the Madurai High Court Branch regarding the mistakes made in the question paper in the recently conducted NEET. The enquiry was conducted and the verdict has been given recently. The High Court had ordered that 196 grace marks must be awarded to all the candidates who had undertaken to write NEET in Tamil.

On behalf of CBSE, it was informed that it is set to appeal in this regard. In this situation, the 2nd Phase of counselling which was scheduled to be conducted throughout the country has been stopped.

Further, the counselling for the admission to the medical courses through the administration quota in the private medical colleges have also been postponed.

It has been announced that the counselling will not be conducted until the release of the next order.
