Rains to continue over North Tamil Nadu, Chennai to remain humid

Southwest Monsoon made an onset over the state of Tamil Nadu a while ago. In fact, this year, as compared to the other periods, the state has seen a better June with rains remaining on the surplus side.
Even now, while Southwest Monsoon has become weak over most parts of the country, the northern parts of Tamil Nadu have been observing active Monsoon conditions. The off-shore trough that has been persisting along the West Coast has been giving rains over the state of Kerala due to which moisture is being pushed towards the state of Tamil Nadu as well.
Thus, the last 24 hours were also rainy for some parts of Tamil Nadu. Moreover, isolated pockets did record heavy rainfall activity as well. In fact, the southern tip of the country also saw very light rainfall activity.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Thanjavur recorded a whopping 68 mm of rainfall, Coimbatore 0.2 mm, Coonoor 0.4 mm, Kanyakumari 0.8 mm, Karaikal 0.7 mm, Kodaikanal 3.6 mm, Madurai 24.8 mm, Palayamkottai 2.4 mm, and Tiruchchirappalli 3.8 mm.
Now, as per Skymet Weather, northern parts of Tamil Nadu including Salem, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur may record some rains. Meanwhile, southern parts of Tamil Nadu will remain hot and humid.
Talking about Chennai, very warm and humid weather will persist over the capital city of Tamil Nadu. However, isolated rains cannot be ruled out over the city.
