Rains in West Coast / ghats will start to reduce from Friday

Strong Westerlies are coming to end in another 2 days. So the rains in west coast will reduce and slowly thunderstorms will start to form in interior / coastal Tamil Nadu.

Huge inflows into Cauvery Catchment Dams with Hemavathy inflow jumping to 29400 cusecs, KRS dam to 17900 cusecs, Kabini to 17900 cusecs and Harangi to 7300 cusecs.



1. Cauvery Catchment (Hemavathy)

Its was one hell of rains in Sakleshpura Taluk in Hassan district with many paces recording over 300 mm rainfall in last 24 hrs. Chikmagalur district too got very good rains. Hence the inflow jumped to 29400 cusecs. Remember once Hemavathy is full, water will be released to KRS dam. As of now it is only 27% full.

2. Cauvery Catchment (KRS)

Heavy rains continue Kodagu (Coorg), Talacuvery recording over 100 mm rainfall. The inflow has jumped to 17900 cusecs. The dam is 24 % full.

3. Cauvery Catchment (Kabini)

Wayanad continues to rock with Vythri once again recording over 100 mm rainfall. The inflow in the dam is at 17900 cusecs. The dam is 57 % full. At this rate the dam will be overflow in a week provided same rains continue. Mettur Dam gets direct water from Kabini. Hope Wayanad continues to get pounded with heavy rains.

4. Tamil Nadu dams inflows

  • Pillur Dam - 10000 cusecs
  • Sholayar Dam - 6300 cusecs
  • Amaravathy Dam - 2500 cusecs
  • Parambikulam Dam - 2000 cusecs
  • Servalar Dam - 1400 cusecs
  • Papanasam Dam - 1250 cusecs
  • Manimuthar Dam - 1250 cusecs
  • Mettur Dam - 850 cusecs
  • Aliyar Dam - 240 cusecs
  • Thirumoorthy - 15 cusecs
