Southwest monsoon to start in the next 48 hours: Prospects of rain in Chennai

Usually, the southwest monsoon starts on 1st June. However, this year (2016), it starts 5 days later.
The southwest monsoon rains are set to start in Kerala in the next 48 hours.
Chennai Meteorological Centre officials explained in this regard that it is expected that the southwest monsoon will start in the next 48 hours. Due to this, there may be rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The Chennai will remain cloudy. There may be rain or rain with thunder in the evening or night.
The southwest monsoon rains will be in the states of Kerala, Andhra, and Maharashtra.
As the southwest monsoon is set to start, the impact of summer will reduce gradually in Tamil Nadu. There will be widespread rains in the Western Ghat Range.
The impact of the severe summer is yet to abate in Chennai. It is expected that the southwest monsoon rains will bring this down.
