Heavy rains in some places of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today

The low depression formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into deep depression. Because of this, there were rains in Tamil Nadu. In the capital city Chennai, there were heavy rains for two days. Similarly there were rains in Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Nellai, Madurai, Thoothukudi, Thanjai, Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram. These rains were a good relief to the people who were reeling under the hot Kathri sun.
At this juncture, the meteorological centre has mentioned that there will be heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Officials of Chennai Meteorological Centre said, The low pressure formed over south-west Bay of Bengal is now turned into storm and is laying in Odisha. Because of this Odisha may witness squally wind speed reaching 60-80 kmph. Several places in north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts are also likely to be affected by stormy winds during the next 24 hours. Fishermen have been warned against venturing in the sea along and off Odisha, Andhra and Tamil Nadu coasts. Clouds currently hovering over the city are due to winds laden with moisture moving in from the Arabian Sea. Because of this there will be heavy rains in some places of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today. As far as Chennai is concerned the sky conditions are likely to be cloudy. Rainfall is expected in some areas.
