Initiation Ceremony of 5th Batch of PGDM 2019 -21

Having achieved success since its inception in 2015, Rajalakshmi School of Business (RSB) added another feather in its cap as it inaugurated the 5th Batch of PGDM, Class of 2019-21 on June 26th, 2019 at its Campus in Chennai. The orientation program for new batch has been designed to benefit the students to adapt to the management domain with ease. The programs also aim to instill the true spirit and culture of the institution, enabling them to seamlessly experience the new phase of life.

The inauguration program commenced at 2.30 pm, with a welcome speech by Prof. Gautam Ghosh Director, RSB. He took students and parents through the exciting journey of RSB, presenting them with the opportunities and challenges of a PGDM program and spoke in length about the success formula in a B School with his 7 Point success stories.

Our Chairperson Dr. Thangam Meganathan welcomed the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering in her own inimitable style followed by our Vice Chairman Dr. Haree Shankar Meganathan introducing the Chief Guest to the audience.

The Chief Guest Mr. CK Kumaravel, CEO & Co-founder, Naturals Salon & Spa set the perfect stage for the audience with his charismatic speech. He stressed upon the significance of dreaming and following it up with a striking passion by sharing his personal stories.
 
The days proceedings were concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr.Ashok Natrajan -Program Director, RSB. He added his words of welcome to the incoming students and encouraged them to make full use of all the resources available at the institute.

Mr. Satish Kumar, Chief Mentor, RSB addressed the new incoming batch of PGDM on what it takes to succeed in a PGDM program. He shared his experience of his IIM Ahmedabad days and what kind of hard work and preparation is required to succeed and make optimum use of a B School. 

Urvashi Sundarraju -Micro Market Head Tamil Nadu @ OYO  had an Interactive session with students  and  gave various insights on the evolution of OYO and what it takes to transition from Campus to Corporate. She also touched upon the various facets of entrepreneurship and also spoke about the basics of Management.

 Mr. GD Sharma, Independent Director at Tamil Nadu Petro Products and an active board member at RSB started his session by speaking to students on the need to invest their time wisely for the next 21 months for a successful and long term rewarding career. He emphasized on the importance of Management with the help of real-time stories, by ways of developing character and imbibing strong management qualities. The session had a great impact on our students who immediately after the sessions felt Mr. Sharma was a true source of inspiration. 

One of the feedback received from the student: "your worords of wisdom have not only reached my head but will be imbibed in my heart." was true testament of the impact Mr.Sharma had with the students.

Mr. Vijay Nagabhushan, Team Manager, Business Process Consulting @ Cognizant took time out from his busy schedule to interact with students. Vijay spoke on the "Traits required to succeed in a B-School". 

As part of Young Manager program RSB had invited young Corporate Professionals from the industry to share their experience of working in the Corporate world and set the tone on the area of expertise to help students understand the various specializations offered at RSB and the real time challenges faced in their respective functions:

Akshaya Sreedhar, Business Analyst @ Crayon Data spoke about the emerging trends in Business Analytics and skill sets needed to successfully start a career in Analytics. Plenty of insights with real time examples helped students relate to analytical concepts. Akshaya also guided students on what courses and certifications need to be pursued during their tenure at RSB.

 Deivanai, Product Consultant @ Freshworks spoke to the students in length on choosing Sales & Marketing as a specialization and what it takes to succeed in this function. With limited time available, she touched upon the various career prospects for Sales & Marketing professionals. 
Janane Sethunarayanan, HR Consultant interacted with students and gave them a detailed understanding on the various functions of HR and what preparation and hard work is required to succeed in the Corporate World. 

Krithi  Gugan, Analyst @ ICRA interacted with students sharing his experience of having chosen Finance as a career and what it takes for a to succeed while in a B School. He got into the basics of Finance to help students get an overview of working as a Finance professional in the corporate world.

All of them in their mid-level Corporate careers with minimal years of work experience were able to break the ice with students making it an extremely interactive session.

In the middle of all these sessions spread across the 3 days of Orientation, the new students also enjoyed an Ice Breaking session which was organized by Mr.Faizal, Head Admissions & Marketing @ RSB along with his team. Students enjoyed the session and participated actively with sheer commitment creating  a bond among the batch right from Day 1.
