Posted on: 19/Jul/2019 10:09:01 AM
Pondicherry based JIPMER is one of the leading medical education and research institutes in India with top class facilities. It is said that on 24th July 2019 at 8 am JIPMER would hold the second counselling for admission to MBBS course for 2019 session.

The second counselling would take place at the mini auditorium of JIPMERS academic centre to fill up seats that fell vacant after the first counselling. It is important to note that 17 MBBS seat fell vacant in JIPMER after the first round of counselling. As many as 11 seats in Puducherry campus (un-reserved- 9, OBC-1, SC-1) and 6 seats in Karaikal campus (unreserved-5, OBC-1) fell vacant.

Information is the vacancies have fallen in general unreserved OBC and SC categories and they would be filled up from the same category. It is revealed that those candidates who were registered for first round of counselling would be eligible to appear for second round of counselling. Those candidates who have been called for first counselling on 26th June and 27th June but failed to register their names are not eligible to attend second counselling. On its website, JIPMER has posted the list of students eligible to attend second round of counselling.

To fill up 14 vacant seats, JIPMER has invited 140 candidates from general unreserved category from ranks 751 to 890. To fill up 2 seats in OBC category, the institute has invited 20 candidates from OBC categories from ranks 371 to rank 390 and for 1 seat as many as 10 students from SC category from ranks 201 to 210 have been invited.

At 11 am, on 24th July 2019, JIPMER would close the registration for counselling. It is now said that candidates opting for a seat in the second counselling must join the MBBS course immediately after the medical examination conducted by JIPMER hospital.

It must be noted that there were few complaints that the students from other states have managed to join JIPMER MBBS course under Puducherry quota by furnishing fake certificates. Forging the documents to get nativity certificates from Puducherry and from other states has been done by some students and this was as per student- parent forums. Information is students under Puducherry quota furnished fake nativity certificates to JIPMER to join the MBBS course. In addition to this, students used other certificates to write NEET from their hometowns for admission to medical colleges in their states.

It is important to mention here that admission to MBBS course would be offered only after verifying the authenticity of the certificates furnished by the candidates.

For this purpose, help of the district collector has been sought in ascertaining the genuineness of the residence certificates of the candidates. The shocking information is few students from other states have joined JIPMER in Puducherry quota.
